Deborah Kim Poole

Deborah Kim Poole, 57, of Greeneville, died Tuesday at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, following a battle with cancer.
Since 2004, Deborah was a nurse practitioner, working as a hospitalist.
She had also served on the faculty of the College of Nursing, East Tennessee State University, and worked in a variety of clinical settings in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
She earned a Master of Science degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and the doctorate in nursing with a focus on gerontology at The Medical College of Georgia.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greeneville.
She had an avid interest in the arts, participating in community theatre and choral groups.
Survivors include her mother: Barbara Poole of Woodleaf, N.C.; her father: Tom Poole of China Grove, N.C.; a sister: Kelley Stransky of Kissimmee, Fla.; her children: Evan Small of Elon, N.C., and Gillian Small of Evans, Ga.; her former husband: Jeff Small of Evans; and her husband: David Hendricksen of Greeneville.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Dr. Dan Donaldson will officiate.
The family will share a time for gathering with friends in the Simon Room at First Presbyterian Church following the service.
A private disposition of cremains will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee or to First Presbyterian Church.
